  • My Ransomed Soul!

    Welcome!

    In accordance with Philippians 4:6, we are praising the Lord with Patrice for the miracle that we have received and are about to receive.  Treeda, you are in our prayers (as always) & especially today.

    When people say, "I can't forgive myself!” they don't know how scripturally accurate that statement is.  And though it sounds so dismal, it's so wondrous, because Jesus Christ, the propitiation (full payment) for our sins, can forgive us.  My Christmas poem for 1998 was based on that thought.  I've put much prayer into it that many who seek forgiveness will stop looking to themselves & things like new age and turn to Christ, the Savior; the Ancient of Days; our Redemption; Atonement; our only Way.

    God expects us to live off of Him.  He delights in our dependency of Him.  He relishes us relying on Him.  If we can’t count on His forgiveness, then how can we believe Him for anything else?  Praise God for His completed work—it is finished!  Hallelujah!

    …I have found a ransom (an atonement).  Job 33:24, (margin)

    I had been abducted and held in a foreign land;

    And there was much about it that I couldn't understand.

    To seize some worthless one like me did not make any sense;

    Because I had no wealth nor claim to any prominence.

    There wasn't one prestigious soul to whom I was related;

    And if there was a price for me, who'd dare negotiate it?

    Who would give one cent for me, and if there's such a one,

    Would he pay the price for all the lawless things I've done?

    My captor did not value me nor think someone would pay;

    He wanted me in bondage just to take my life away.

    But one day Jesus Christ came by and spoiled all his plans;

    He paid a price for me above the highest of demands.

    For all the wrongs that I committed, Jesus did atone;

    And no one else could do this, except Jesus Christ alone.

    And now a song of sweet redemption's sung by one like me;

    My soul has found a ransom:  Praise the Lord, He set me free!

    And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.  Romans 5:11

    Be wholly encouraged!

  • SHOUTS OUT TO MY MOM!

    I wanted to make this special post for Mother’s Day.  I am of the opinion that every day is Mother’s Day; every day my mother is doing something to make my day special.  It’s only that the second Sunday of May is set aside to be named after her and the tables are turned (ever so slightly) and I attempt to do something to thank her.

    Everyone else reads of my troubles on my blog and responds with, “Yaay!  Are you really coming to Maryland?”  (laughs)  Jokes aside, everyone is very sympathetic of what I’m going through and so very supportive of whatever I choose to do.  Then there’s mom—all she’s thinking is, “What can I do?”  She calls me up Friday and invites me out for a bite to eat.  I’m thinking, “I’m trying to think up a really nice dining place to take her for Mother’s Day and she’s wanting to take me out!”  Well, we went to the Golden Corral, which should have you figuring out by now that it was way more than just a bite.  It was so relaxing and therapeutic to be reminded of the beautiful things that make up my world—her!!!  Don’t think that she’s not responding to my posts, she “sending” them places—she’s a little turned around on the information highway.  If you happen to get her blog or comments in your email box, please share them with the rest of us!!!

    Thank you, Mom, for the laughs and most of all, your love!

    Love,

    Pammee

  • His Mighty Acts!

    Welcome!

    It seems like this has been a real week.  It’s one of those that show whether we are strong in the Lord or strong in and or ourselves (which is real weak)!  I’m believing God that I will come back stronger than before!

    The New Revised Standard version of Psalm 37:5 says:  Commit your way to the LORD, trust in Him, and He will act.

    So many times we get in a panic and our thoughts are “Do something!”  It doesn’t matter if it’s rational, sensible, logical, ethical or remedial, we are just somehow comforted by the sight of immediate action.  But no matter how many timeframes and clocks we give God, He doesn’t punch them nor watch them.  He’s always on schedule, but not on a schedule.  Everything (including us) is on His schedule.

    He’s slow to anger—that’s one of the things that displays His might.  We can’t appreciate that until we recognize that that anger was directed toward us!

    When He acts, it’s a command performance that will have everyone standing at attention and calling for an encore.  When we act, it’s usually just drama that gets poor reviews.  His mighty acts highlights His presence in our lives, our actions spotlights our shameful, selfish & foolish ways.  Life has many stages, but it doesn’t require us to put on a show!  God will act:  keep your eyes on Him and not your situation.

    Psalm 37:

    5 – Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

    6 – And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

    Isaiah 60:

    1 – Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

    2 – For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee.

    3 – And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

    In trust, commit your way to God and know that He will act;

    Although it may not be right now, His timing is exact.

    Humans tend to think if it's not instantaneously,

    Then He's moved too slow and missed His opportunity.

    Yet our rule of “now or never” does not move God’s hand;

    But the times and seasons are what moves at His command.

    If we trust Him for this time, then we will see once more—

    God's timing was precise and ways were perfect, like before.

    Psalm 145:

    4 – One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.

    5 – I will speak of the glorious honour of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.

    6 – And men shall speak of the might of Thy terrible acts: and I will declare Thy greatness.

    7 – They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.

    8 – The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

    9 – The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works.

    10 – All Thy works shall praise Thee, O LORD; and Thy saints shall bless Thee.

    11 – They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power;

    12 – To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.

    Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness.  Psalm 150:2

    Be actively encouraged!

  • Iron Sharpeneth Iron!

    Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.  Proverbs 27:17

    I wanted to make a special post to register my praise & thanks to God for His mindfulness of me and for the precious vessel of honor, Pastor Emma White, that He placed in my life.  (Click on link to see her and more about the ministry that she labors in with her husband, Apostle Reginald White):  http://gospel-lighthouse.org/

    After I posted my devotion for yesterday, I was getting beat up on every side.  I went to bed last night and woke up this morning with the constant thought of how I could have employment in another city (such as Maryland) and still conduct my ministry (which has its primary base in Pittsburgh).  I know that if it’s for me to do, the Lord will work out all of the details.  I don’t have to work it out, I only need to follow Him & obey.  The one devotion “Hope Is Gone” (from 3/29/07) kept coming to me.  I just began to ponder if it there is nothing left here for me and it is truly time for me to move on.

    I came into work and did my best to encourage myself.  I sang & hummed the song, “Think of His Goodness to You” and others.  Then someone (whom I have done no wrong, in fact, I’ve been nothing but kind) attempted to create confusion and get others to join in against me.  I really needed strength from above because I had become so frustrated that it tired me.  It seemed that I was fading fast despite my attempts to be spry and bright (which was requiring all of my strength).  Then at 12 noon, I get this e-card from a precious friend & sister and wonderful woman of God, Pastor Emma White.  Attached to the card were her own words that read:

    Great opportunity is often accompanied by great opposition. Thank God for the GREAT things before you! Don't be intimidated by the strategies of the enemy. You are a tremendous gift to the Body of Christ. I personally thank God for you and the unique and wonderful way He has chosen to use you in His Kingdom. You're on my heart and in my prayers.

    Much love...

    Her greeting could not have been more timely, her words could not have been more fitting.  It was just what I needed.  It helped me to do what I had been trying so desperately to do.  It awakened my soul with new strength.  I copied those words into a Word Document and magnified the font to fit a whole page.  I then printed it out and tacked it to my wall.  So those words are ever before my eyes, speaking life to me and to every dream and desire that God has placed within me.  God still sends forth His queens for such a time as this!

    My Dear Pastor Emma,

    Thank you so much for being obedient to the Spirit of God and sensitive to His moving.  You have always been an example and inspiration to me.  There are people that I meet in life and readily recognize that they are a needed blessing that has been sent from God.  May God continue to richly bless you with the desires of His heart:  His choice IS choice!

    With His love & mine,

    Sister Pam

    A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.  As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.  Proverbs 25:11&25

  • FUTILE OR FRUITFUL?

    Welcome!

    I want you to know that your visits and encouraging words have encouraged me.  I could just see Jesus responding to everyone who was enlightened by yesterday’s devotion, “…Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:40)

    Now, today’s devotion will lead us yet further on in faith.  It takes faith to see us through painful times.  It takes faith to be convinced that God is not against us, nor punishing us, but He is working His good pleasure, which is for our good.  It takes faith to not become embarrassed, discouraged or feel defeated.  It takes faith in those times to rejoice and be exceeding glad.

    It's so indicative of human nature to want to display how productive we are.  We would like to be the branch with the biggest, brightest, best and most fruit hanging off of us.  And it's also human nature that sees those very things as a strong indication of growth.  That is nothing more than the carnal mind highly esteeming our worthless flesh.  (John 6:63 – It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.)

    But the Husbandman with a purpose at heart and pruning shears in hand begins to do a work that seems to cut us to our very hearts.  He has ordained that we'd be fruitful, not a spectacle.  It may appear to others that we're non-productive, but God is not interested in how we appear to the undiscerning eye.  Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.  He wisely, diligently and only considers the heart of the matter (which is all that really matters); the place from which are the issues of life.

    So He cuts.  He cuts away the fruit that the seed may be planted elsewhere in other lives and in other places.  He cuts it away that it may be useful, bring life and reproduce even more fruit.  It's still our fruit, but God gets the glory and we get the opportunity to expand our ministries and ministering in even greater capacities.

    He also trims away the unnecessary and unwanted parts:  dying leaves that would use our strength, drain our life and occupy space where more fruit could grow.  He knows what He's doing and we know that all things work together for good.  In the process of pruning that seems to reduce us to nothing, God is giving an increase.

    John 15:

    1 – I am the true Vine, and My Father is the husbandman.

    2 – Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

    3 – Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

    4 – Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.

    5 – I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.

    6 – If a man abide not in Me, He is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

    7 – If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

    8 – Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples.

    16 – Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.

    There were three men with fruit trees,

    But it was clear to see—

    What they all had was similar,

    But treated differently.

    The first man had a fig tree,

    That grew so tall and green;

    Until from many miles away,

    Its beauty could be seen.

    But sadly all the branches

    Were full of leaves and twigs;

    And that tree was prevented

    From growing any figs.

    The next man’s tree had good fruit,

    That he let no one touch;

    He looked rich and successful,

    Because it had so much.

    His family was starving,

    With fruit on every side;

    Still, they all went malnourished;

    And subsequently died.

    The last man’s tree look puny,

    Not fitting for display;

    Because the fruit and dying stems

    Were quickly cut away.

    But it fulfilled its purpose,

    It grew and multiplied;

    It gave food for his household,

    And then much more beside.

    And from these three examples,

    There is no need to bother—

    To ask of you which of them proved

    To be the wisest father.

    Behold, He taketh away, who can hinder Him?  who will say unto Him, What doest Thou?  Job 9:12

    Be wondrously encouraged!

  • BEYOND THE SEEN

    Welcome!  Glad to see you here!

    Just like I can’t actually see you, I trust that you are here because you’re reading this right now.  I don’t know that you are but you are!  Funny, huh?

    Although I’m using the word “see” as a figure of speech, we should be able to look by faith when we’re confronted with problems and say to the Lord, “Glad to see You here!” and know that He is indeed with us.

    It is beyond me how the Lord can walk beside me, and I not see Him.  And the Lord can go ahead of me and I not perceive His leading.  My God is everywhere and He is always there!

    In the times when I lose sight of God, I need to refocus.  I need to take my eyes off of the problem and put them back on the Problem-Solver!  I don’t need to see how, I only need to see Him!

    May you see Him in all that you go through;

    May you see Him right there to help and strengthen you!

    Job

    9:11 – Lo, He goeth by me, and I see Him not:  He passeth on also, but I perceive Him not.

    23:8 – Behold, I go forward, but He is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive Him:

    23:9 – On the left hand, where He doth work, but I cannot behold Him; He hideth Himself on the right hand, that I cannot see Him.

    23:10 – But He knoweth the way that I take…

    I want to trust God even more,

    But sometimes I allow—

    Some circumstance to interfere

    With trusting Him somehow.

    Too often I'll let circumstances

    Open me to fear;

    And almost cause me to forget

    That God is ever near.

    When trouble enters in,

    Through any given situation;

    And comes between my God and me,

    It's by my invitation.

    I designate the place it takes,

    I let it come between;

    I let it bar the way for God

    To move and intervene.

    I let it enter in my life,

    Where it can block my view;

    And then I see just problems,

    Rather than what God can do.

    I cannot let it have a way

    Of getting next to me,

    And take God's place within

    And fill me with anxiety.

    So, I'll give God my total trust,

    And too, His rightful place;

    Then I'll have joy and perfect peace,

    No matter what I face.

    Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.  John 20:29

    Be visibly encouraged!

  • IT IS THE LORD!

    Welcome!  God bless you!  I appreciate your visit so very much but most of all, we appreciate the Lord who is the most High but not too high to visit us and be mindful of us!

    It is the Lord!!!  Could there be in existence any greater words than these to bring tidings of comfort and joy?  In times of utter confusion, these words bring relief from our deep bewilderment.  In times of trouble, these words bring an answer of peace and blessed assurance.  These words bring order to chaos.  For when it’s the Lord, we can rest assured, everything is good.

    One of the sermons that I vividly remember my beloved Pastor Willie Spencer preaching before he went home April 4th, 1998 to be with the One whom his soul loveth was from the book of Job.  On March 3rd, He brought out so beautifully how Job never mentioned the devil.  Job ascribed all glory and honor and power to the sovereignty of Almighty God.  Job knew no matter what, God was in control and He wasn't through until victory was manifested in every aspect of his ordeal.

    But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.  Matthew 14:27

    …It is the LORD:  let Him do what seemeth Him good.  1 Samuel 3:18

    It is the Lord!  So let Him do whatever He deems best.

    Don’t try to hinder Him or interfere;

    But knowing He is all-wise and He never makes mistakes,

    Be still until His purpose becomes clear.

    It is the Lord!  Allow Him to work all things for your good,

    As it all flows according to His plan;

    Don't think to seize control or think to help Him get it done;

    For He’ll complete the good work He began.

    It is the Lord!  Let Him be God and sovereign in your life.

    Do not attempt to stay His mighty hand;

    It’s not for you to question Him when He begins to move,

    In many ways that you don’t understand.

    It is the Lord!  Though right now there’s no way that you see how,

    But in due time, it surely shall reflect;

    And you will not have any doubt nor one regret inside,

    When you look back on it in retrospect.

    It is the Lord!  Don’t look at someone else and blame them for

    The things the Lord has ordained in His will;

    And when it seems as if man’s worked misfortune in your life

    You’ll see that God has worked His purpose, still.

    It is the Lord!  So let Him do what seemeth good to Him;

    And let this sweet assurance flood your soul;

    It is the Lord, no matter what, His power shall prevail,

    No matter what, the Lord is in control!

    Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty:  for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine; Thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and Thou art exalted as Head above all.  1 Chronicles 29:11

    ...Mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured Him that liveth for ever, Whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation:  And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing:  and He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth:  and none can stay His hand, or say unto Him, What doest Thou?  Behold, He taketh away, who can hinder Him?  who will say unto Him, What doest Thou?  Daniel 4:34&35 & Job 9:12

    Be thoroughly encouraged!

  • ALL!

    Welcome all!

    Romans 8:37 doesn’t say in small things we are more than conquerors, but it promises us that in ALL these things!  God’s Word provides us with full coverage.  In instances such as healthcare, from the examination to insurance to the hospital gown, everyone likes full coverage!!!  Well, you can’t get better coverage than the promise of God’s Word—ALL!

    So often in our natural minds & our way of thinking, we settle in for minimum coverage.  Many times people refer to certain problems as “small” because it does not seem like such a big deal.  They fail to realize that no matter how trivial it seems to be, it’s more than they can handle and something that they can do nothing about.  So even minimum coverage would not be adequate for things that they’ve minimized.

    But with God’s full coverage, we can say of a truth that all of our problems are small because that’s how they look and how they are when we lift them up to God.  It’s then that we see them in comparison to His greatness and the vastness of His promise.  Praise God that in all things and in all ways, we're always triumphant, always victorious; we're more than conquerors through Christ Jesus!

    Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.  Romans 8:37

    Could Romans 8 and 37 not include somehow

    The problem in your life that is confronting you right now?

    Do you think Romans 8 and 28, when it says “all”—

    Has only covered certain problems you’ve considered “small?”

    Nay, you know it’s not just some, nor the majority;

    But it’s in all of these things, God’s given you the victory.

    God is working all these things together for your good;

    What’s most complex will turn out even better than it should!

    It means you’ll be so blessed by all the trouble you go through,

    That you would have been cheated, had it not happened to you.

    And the degree of difficulty, rather large or small;

    Is covered by God’s promise, and His promise says it:  ALL!

    And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.  Romans 8:28

    Be totally encouraged!

  • HIS YOKE IS LIBERTY!

    Welcome!

    I have a special prayer request for my dear, dear friend and sister in Christ, Pastor Gin Burda, her husband (who is also very dear and precious), Elder Tom Burda and their entire family.  Their son, Tony, was shot 3 times last night but God spared his life and he is now in the hospital.  Pastor Burda wants to register her praise to God for sparing Tony’s life and also make known her prayer request that Tony will give his life & heart completely to living for and serving the Lordshe desires for him a full recoverymind, soul & body.  This we agree upon and ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

    A Bible School Teacher read to her young students from the passage in Matthew 11:30 of how Jesus stated that His yoke is easy, and then asked her class, "What is a yoke?"  One child replied, "It's a heavy object that's put on animals and joins them together at the neck."  She then asked, "Well, what would God's yoke be?"  And the child replied, "It's when He puts His arms around us!"

    How true!  How great is His heart toward us.  He could detain us with force, restrain us with fears, but He constrains us with love.  He puts His love in us.  He puts His love around us.

    One definition of a yoke is an arched device formerly laid on the neck of a defeated person.  That’s the yoke of sin that was fastened upon us.  Only Jesus can and could destroy those yokes off of us that were only of hardship, harshness and heartache.  And then He invites us to put His yoke that is healthy, fitting and comforting upon us.  That’s the yoke that’s a crosspiece by which two are joined for working together.  It’s His cross that joined us unto Himself in peace!

    May you know the liberating power of His yoke.

    …And the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.  Isaiah 10:27

    Matthew 11:

    28 – Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

    29 – Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

    30 – For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

    Before I came to know You, all the things in life that yoked me;

    And I embraced as freedom were the things that bound and choked me.

    They seemed to just imprison me as if they were designed

    To weigh me down so that I was continuously confined.

    My life in its entirety, they mastered and controlled;

    And only Your anointing could and did destroy their hold.

    Then with the same eternal love that held You to the cross,

    That had You so attached to one who was a total loss;

    That fastened You to God's sweet will to be my sacrifice;

    And bound You to a firm resolve to pay the highest price;

    United me with You and to Your ways had me adhere;

    And made me not to be content to casually draw near.

    But Your great love that drew me in, has grafted us together;

    And interfused my heart with Yours in love no one can sever.

    Now that I've learned of You, I've come to know Your yoke is easy;

    It's made with Your redeeming love that holds me close, yet frees me.

    For the love of Christ constraineth us...  2 Corinthians 5:14

    Be intensely encouraged!

  • ENCOURAGING YOURSELF!

    Welcome!

    Praise the Lord!  Today is a new day and His mercies are new with each one!  & After yesterday, that’s really great news for me because I could have been consumed with my own grief!  But thank God, He’s the God of another chance!  One minister said that He’s not a God of a second chance, because I used my second chance—He’s a God of another chance!  Praise His holy name!

    Encouragement must be at times a personal ministry.  May the taunting of the giant cause us to run to the battle in the name of the Lord.  For blessed; happy, encouraged is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

    1 Samuel 30:

    4 - Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

    6 - And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters:  but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

    8 - And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop?  shall I overtake them?  And He answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

    I came to know that in my life when there’s adversity,

    Encouragement and strength is what my greatest need would be.

    My ministry to others is to share about God’s power;

    Yet, it seemed I had none during my distressing hour.

    How it is that when problems in my own life did befall

    That I was almost fainting because my strength was so small?

    Could it be that I am needing them to help me through,

    And they’re not doing something that they are supposed to do?

    Is there really something helpful they could do or say;

    And what makes them responsible to help me on my way?

    It does state in the Word that we are helpful to each other

    When we say “be encouraged” to our sister and our brother.

    But no one’s obligated and by any means at fault

    If God’s Word’s not enough and I’m depressed as a result.

    So, it’s through those experiences that I have come to learn,

    It’s not because I do not get encouraged in return.

    But when I give encouragement, the way that I should start

    Is first apply the words I’m given from God to my heart.

    Then when I seek encouragement and I desperately need it,

    My heart will use the word it’s heard to echo and repeat it.

    If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.  Proverbs 24:10

    They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.  Isaiah 41:6

    Be personally encouraged!
