Welcome! Blessings!
I just received word that one of our family pets, Darcy, a beautiful German Shepherd, will probably have to be put down on tomorrow. She’s 12 years old and has been a wonderful & precious friend. Proverbs 12:10 speaks of how a righteous man cares for his animals. I guess I’ll have to elaborate on that a little more later on, perhaps tomorrow. This is one of those many times that I am so eternally grateful for prayer. What a blessing it is! May you be blessed by this devotion.
In the eighteenth chapter of Luke, Jesus puts to us a very thought provoking question: If an unjust man will do what is right when he doesn’t want to and because he feels that he has no choice, how much more will God who is just and desires to bless us do what’s right and good by those who are His choice, His chosen ones?
What prayer request do you have before Him? Is it one that is similar to many of mine at this time, one where you don’t know what to do? Jesus said we ought to pray! (Luke 18:1) So we’re doing the right thing. And though it seems so hard, and it seems so long, God’s Word declares that He would answer even before we call, and He would hear us out while we were yet speaking. Then Jeremiah 33:3 encourages us to call on Him, and He will show us great and mighty things that are unheard of. Although our requests aren’t anything new to Him, He shall answer in a way that is unprecedented.
He’s ever mindful of us. He knows what things we have need of before we ask. He knew what we needed before we knew we needed it. And He knows what we stand in need of when we kneel in prayer; things that we’re not even aware that we need at that very time and should be asking for. When we pray, God joins us in prayer!
Prayer doesn’t need an answer; prayer is the answer! An answer already comes with every prayer that we pray. A prayer that is unheard is unheard of! Let you heart be encouraged in prayer and ignited with excitement and expectation by these scriptures, these precious promises that the Lord has given us to believe on.
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God…for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. And shall not God avenge His own elect which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily…And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear...for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Romans 8:26&27; Matthew 6:32; Luke 18:7&8; Isaiah 65:24; Matthew 6:8; Jeremiah 33:3; John 14:14; Matthew 21:22 & James 5:16
If man will grant requests because he’s left with little choice;
How much more shall the Lord, who wants and longs to hear your voice?
If man will hear your cry because he’s forced in that position;
How much more will the Father, who delights in your petition?
Would God, who’s merciful and loves you, fail to hear and bless;
When unjust judges answer you, though they could not care less?
If man will act when he would rather do nothing at all,
Then you can rest assured that God will always hear your call.
And though some judges may deny you, just because they can;
You know that God will never do you any wise like man!
Be absolutely encouraged!
Pam
