Welcome! Blessings! Thank you so much for your prayers for me. I am doing much better already.
I have a special prayer request. A very dear friend & sister in Christ named Diana has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. I say that they haven’t seen anything rare until they’ve seen what the power of God can do. Our God is always in rare form! She told the doctors that her life is in God’s hands and He can do whatever He will. Please join me in praying for her. We need a miracle and God’s got plenty of them—all for us!
As I mentioned before, I attended a women’s prayer retreat almost 2 weeks ago and the Word and prayer atmosphere were tremendous! One of the facilitators, Elder Loretta Cohen, ministered about complaining. I will share later on how the Lord prepared me to soak up what she taught. But this devotion is just a portion of what I got out of it.
To complain is to talk yourself out of a blessing. While God invites us to pour out our complaint and come reason together with Him, He finds it unacceptable to murmur against Him out of ungratefulness, unbelief, selfishness, self-will, immaturity and unreasonableness, etc.
Complaining about circumstances is nothing less than speaking against the Lord. If God is the sovereign Lord of our lives, then we are talking against Him when we complain about circumstances and situations. It is never safe to murmur against the Lord, yet some people insist on living dangerously. It’s usually the reason many find themselves "under the circumstances" (Numbers 16:31-33) or in a heated discussion (Numbers 1:11).
If someone said just a portion of some of the things about another person that Christians have said against the Lord, they would be sued. The public would be outraged at their indiscretion in speaking so negatively and openly against someone. The same scriptures that instruct us not to speak evil of one another also apply when it comes to saying things concerning God.
If we start counting our blessings, we will never arrive at the point where we could complain. For instance, are you confronted with a living expense that you can’t afford? Thank God that He can! It’s a blessing that You have Him to provide and that He will indeed make provision for it. Thank Him until it comes to pass and then thank Him that it’s no longer an issue. Say, “This is the Lord’s doing; this is for the Lord to do; this trouble belongs to the Lord…and so do I! He will never forsake my family or me or have us begging. Bless His Holy name!” Believe and receive; rehearse and repeat the report of the Lord—His holy Word; His exceeding great and precious promises! For if you do, you’ll be blessed, and it’s not safe to say anything else!
This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:23&24
It’s never safe to make a statement that would speak against
The way the Lord has deemed it best to mold and shape events.
It’s never safe to say something according to our views
When His will does not coincide with ways that we would choose.
It’s never safe to speak in ways that scorn and criticize
How God sees fit to work when we can’t see why with our eyes.
It’s never safe to talk in ways that cause the Lord to grieve
Because He does not move in ways that our minds can perceive.
The devil who accuses us takes great delight to use
Ungrateful hearts to look at God and find cause to accuse.
And every time we murmur and His workings we despise,
We charged our Father foolishly and judged Him as unwise.
So, let our hearts rejoice at what God does to make our day;
For any other words than praise is never safe to say.
Ephesians
5:20 – Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
4:29 – Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
4:30 – And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
4:31 – Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Be Fluently Encouraged!
